Introduction to Smoking Kratom
Should you smoke Kratom? It’s an understandable question. Kratom is a plant indigenous to the Southeast Asia region. It grows as a tree and is used for the Mitragynine and 7-hydroxumitra ingredients found in its leaves. These ingredients affect the opioid centers of your brain, thus producing a relaxing effect for both your body and mind.
To summarize, the plant is similar enough to weed for one to wonder if it can be used like it too. The simple answer is, “yes,” you can use it as you would weed. You can smoke Kratom. It’s one of the many ways you can experience its effects. But, (and this is a really, really big “but”) you really shouldn’t smoke it. Smoking Kratom is absolutely the worse way to use it. You would be doing yourself a huge favor by using it in literally any of its other forms.
There are a number of different reasons, but all of them will mainly wrap back around to the fact that:
Smoking Kratom Is Wasteful
No matter how you get Kratom into your body, it will do what it’s intended to do. If you chew its leaves, you feel its effects. If you swallow it like pills, you will feel its effects. If you take it orally as a powder, you will feel its effects. If you drink it like tea, you will feel its effects. You can do all of these things, and you will be guaranteed to feel everything that Kratom has to offer. Smoking Kratom, on the other hand, does not provide this same guarantee. A number of users who have tried to smoke straight-up Kartom have reported that they don’t feel anything. The reason behind these lack of effects is due to them lighting the product on fire. They’re burning the leaves, and as a result, they’re burning away the primary ingredients necessary to obtain the therapeutic effects they’re looking for. It’s counterproductive to their cause.
“But you just said I could smoke Kratom.” I did, and you can. You just need to use a lot more than originally intended. If you want to try smoking Kratom, you need to use nearly ten times the amount you would usually use if it were, say, in its powdered form. In essence, you’re spending twice as much of your product by trying to smoke it, and in the end, you’re only going to achieve the same result you would get by just taking it in its powdered form, or in any of the other previously mentioned ways.
Smoking Kratom With Weed Isn’t Worth It
To offset the above problem with smoking Kratom, some users have opted to smoke it with weed. Combining the two is an alternative to smoking Kratom by itself. It’s also a much better way to go about doing it. The thing is, it’s unnecessary, and even a little dangerous.
Weed and Kratom basically do the same things. They both provide stress and arthritis relief. They both produce a euphoric effect on the user. They both make you calm. They help you sleep, and they both alleviate pain. Neither one of them brings any notable personal effects to the table. This brings us back to the original “wasteful” problem. By using both Kratom and weed at the same time, you’re essentially burning through two resources. Of course, this is your decision. While you wouldn’t be getting anything different from the two, you would be stacking their effects on top of each other.
Weed primarily gets itself into your body through the fumes and smoke it generates while burning. Like we mentioned earlier, Kratom has a hard time pulling that off. If you want to experience the sensations of weed and Kratom at the same time, you would be better off chewing the Kratom as a leaf first and then smoking weed right after. You would obtain the same desired effect and not spend most of your resources and money in the process.
It’s also important to remember that both weed and Kratom act like sedatives. A sedative affects the body’s respiratory system by slowing it down. So if you opt to combine weed and Kratom, you’re at risk of suffocating. If by some miracle you don’t suffocate, you’re still at risk of not getting enough oxygen to the brain. This can lead to brain damage and other problems and issues that just aren’t worth the trouble of a doubled-up high. Now if despite all of these warnings you still wanna say “bump it” and smoke Kratom and weed together anyway, use a stronger strain of Kratom. You’ll still need to use an ungodly amount of the stuff in comparison to other methods, but you’re more than likely to experience what you want. Know what you are capable of handling beforehand.
There Are Better Alternative Methods to Smoking Kratom
We’ve listed them off, but now that we’ve explained why smoking Kratom is the worse method, we’ll detail the others here. You have Kratom powder, tea, capsules, and the leaves themselves. Each offers a different way for you to enjoy the substance. You can pick whatever suits your taste best or cycle through them if you prefer.
Kratom powder is the most commonly used method. There are multiple ways you can use the powder to obtain its effects. The first is referred to as the “Toss n’ Wash.” All you do is pop the instructed dosage of the powder into your mouth. After that, you wash it down with a gulp of water or any other drink you want. This method is the fastest and easiest way to get Kratom into your body. By extension, this is also the quickest way for you to start feeling Kratom’s effects. If you find yourself having trouble swallowing all of the powder at once, you can break it into smaller portions and take them one at a time. You would use this same method when taking Kratom in the form of pills (or capsules).
Speaking of capsules, they are the most convenient way to use Kratom. If you don’t like Kratom’s taste, you can take the capsules to avoid it. They’re also the easiest to travel with, so you can take them on the go. However, using this method runs a similar risk to smoking kratom. Capsule sizes can only hold so much Kratom. This means you’ll sometimes have to take more of them in order to feel their effects.
Tea is another way you can take Kratom. To make Kratom tea, you need to have the powdered form. You’ll mix the powder with water and boil it for about 30 minutes. You can sip on the tea while it’s hot, or drink it after it cools. This method tends to offer the most consistent effects, but it is also the most time-consuming. Another way you can drink the tea is by straining it first. It limits the Kratom floating around in the water, but you also risk limiting the effects of the tea in this way.
Finally, you can chew on the leaves. This was the original method used to take Kratom back in the nineteenth century. It still holds to this day. Chewing Kratom provides the longest lasting effects out of any method. This is especially true if you ingest the stem and vein. The stem and vein of Kratom are made up of different stuff from the leaves, so they take longer to digest. Since they don’t leave your body as quickly, their effects don’t either.
